Blog 8: Migration
Migration can have a positive effect on both the people and the land receiving the immigrates. During the rule of Genghis Khan the Mongols would win a battle, take the losing army's riches and assimilate them into their empire. This caused the Mongol's army to become much larger and threatening. As well, the Mongols became more rounded in arts, religion, and many other important aspects of life. Many ancient empires excelled because they had immigrants do their dirty work. There are many examples of slaves and servants who did the work that most citizens would be too proud to do. Even in modern America, we excel because we have foreigners do the grunt work that we would not stoop down to do. Immigrants clean up after us, tend to our fields, and work in our factories. Without immigrants, our economy would not grow at the amazing rate that it does.
