Blog 9: India
Throughout the history of India, both the Hindus and Buddhist have lived peaceful and respectful lives. The Hindus' main belief is that there is a universal soul within every human. This soul helps them do good deeds and find their Dharma. A Dharma is the pathway to a successful reincarnation, which would lead to coming back in a higher caste. The Buddhists believed that they should live Aesthetics lives and reject excess objects. Similar to the Hindus, the Buddhist believe in Nirvana, a state of eternal peace. Mohandas Gandhi led the Indian country in a peaceful resistance. He took beliefs from both Hinduism and Buddhism to create his philosophy of life. He read the Bhagavad-Gita, and took many of the values that the Hindu text portrayed. He was a modern day example of a peaceful man, he lead hunger strikes and sit-in’s to get his message across. Instead of lifting a hand for battle, he lifted his voice in disagreement.
